Taelan inherited much of his fathers Elvish looks; he has a fairly... pointy face, with very sharp and often hooked facial features - his nose in particular is a very defined triangular point. However, his dabbling with dark, fiendish magiks has twisted his appearance beyond what would be considered normal for a half-elf - his eyes are a mottled deep amaranth in color, resembling a pair of void storms. His skin tone has gone from the typical brown of his wood elven familial roots to an ashen grey due to this constant stress put on him by his magiks. The hair on his head is a flowing blue-black, sweeping down to the small of his back, usually tied back in a ponytail but sometimes braided.

Taelan was born to a wood elf father and a human mother in the human settlement of Hearthmoor. From a young age he was encouraged to become a druid much like his father, but Taelan set himself on the pursuit of knowledge; he became a wizard, studying in the Temple of the White under the tutelage of High Wizard Valerius but his hunger for more lead him down a darker path... at the age of 78 he stumbled upon an eldritch tome full of knowledge on the Great Old Ones, a race of eldritch beings that were said to have created this world (and others) as playthings. It took him a very long time to fully unlock its power as he had to research in secrecy, but eventually it warped his appearance and temperament, forcing him to abandon his family, friends, and his studies at the temple among other things.
Since then he has lived as a hermit, rarely interacting with common folk as they are suspicious of his unusual appearance. He has continued to follow the ways of the Great Old Ones, pledging himself to their service - they request of him souls in order to manifest into reality, and he offers them willingly. Previously he would only offer those souls of the sick or dying but quickly he came to learn that these weak souls would not sate his masters, forcing him to search elsewhere.
Word reached Taelan recently, of an ancient font of power hidden away - and in his quest to become as powerful as possible, he leapt at the opportunity to harness its energies. Thus begins the next chapter of his story...
